What Do I Need To Wear?

You'll need to provide your own helmet, boots, gloves and motorcycle leathers. It must be a one piece leather suit and it must be in good condition which means it must be free from holes and tears, this is purely for your own safety.
Some, (mostly european tracks) do allow two piece full zip together leather suits where the zip goes completely around the waist.
Helmets, Boots and Gloves must also be in good condition.
A back protector is not compulsory in order to go out on track but is a very sensible item of protection to wear.

What Is The Cost Of A Motorcycle Trackday?

It depends on which circuit you intend riding at.
Places like Thruxton, Cadwell, Lydden Hill or Mallory for example are considerably cheaper than tracks like Brands Hatch GP or Silverstone.
One thing you can guarantee is wherever you ride, it will be the greatest fun you'll ever have with your clothes on.

How Long Does A Track Day Run For And How Long Do You Get On Track?

A trackday normally runs from around 9am until around 6pm (summer) and 9am until around 4pm (winter)
Usually there are three groups, Novice, Intermediate and Advanced, starting with Advanced group then intermediate group and then the Novice group.
Usually they run 20 minutes for each group until 1pm when you can have a light lunch, resuming at 2pm.

Do You Have To Be Able To Ride Quickly?

The simple answer is no.
That's why there are three groups, you have nothing to prove to yourself or anybody else.
It's about having fun and learning how to ride smoothly, the smoother you are the quicker you are.

How Many Bikes Are Allowed On Track?

All circuits can only allow as many bikes on track as there are grid places in a race on that particular circuit, whisch is normally between 30 and 40. Most trackday organisers try not to run the groups at maximum so as to allow movement of riders between the groups as some riders will be either too quick or slow for the group they are in so need to placed into the correct groups for everybody's safety.

Do You need To Have Motorcycle Trackday Insurance?

Trackday insurance is not compulsory in the UK, however if you are thinking of riding tracks in Europe or further afield it is compulsory as it does include repatriation incase you run out of natural talent.
You will need to carry your E11 EHIC Card (European Health Insurance Card) as it can make any medical care you need difficult without it.

Is Petrol Available At The Circuit?

Some circuits do have pumps and organiser dependant they do open, normally in the lunch hour for refuelling. Most people bring their own although it must be in a proper fuel container.
If not there will almost certainly be a petrol station within close range of most circuits, especially in the UK.

Is Tuition Available?

Sometimes there is free tuition for a couple of sessions. There is also paid tuition available all day and it is worth every penny, so don't be shy just ask.

What Motorcycles Are Allowed On Track?

Basically any motorcycle as long as it is in a trackworthy condition.

Do You Need A Licence?

You do need a Full Motorcycle Licence OR a current ACU licence which you must carry with you on the day if you are riding in the UK or Europe.

Is There A Noise Limit?

The decibel limit is normally listed clearly on the website of the organisers of the trackday you are going to attend.
If you are not sure of the decibel level of your exhaust then make sure you have the baffles with you to fit if needed.

Can I Hire A Track Bike?

Some organisers do have motorcycles to rent but you would need to contact the organisers for prices and or deposits that you need to provide.
